About Us
“Protecting Wildlife, Restoring Hope”
Bayberry Wildlife Rescue is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing injured and orphaned wildlife in Connecticut. Based in Glastonbury, CT, we serve as a safe haven for animals in distress, providing expert medical care, nourishment, and rehabilitation to help them regain their strength before returning to their natural habitats.
Founded by a team of passionate wildlife rehabilitators and conservationists, our mission extends beyond rescue efforts—we also work to educate the community on how to coexist harmoniously with wildlife and take action in preserving local ecosystems.

From Compassion to Action: The Journey of Bayberry Wildlife Rescue
In the heart of Glastonbury, Connecticut, surrounded by forests, rivers, and wildlife-rich landscapes, Bayberry Wildlife Rescue was born out of a deep love and commitment to protecting the animals that call this land home. What started as a small effort to help injured wildlife has grown into a full-fledged rescue and rehabilitation center, dedicated to giving animals a second chance at life.

???? A Humble Beginning
Our journey began with a simple act of kindness—a single rescued animal in need of care. Our founder, had always been passionate about wildlife, often coming across injured birds, orphaned fawns, or distressed animals who had lost their way. Seeing the lack of immediate care options for these creatures, they took action, learning the skills and obtaining the necessary licenses to care for wildlife properly.
???? Growing into a Lifeline for Wildlife
As word spread, more and more people began reaching out for help with injured animals. Calls flooded in from concerned citizens, environmental groups, and even local authorities, all seeking assistance in rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife.
To meet the growing demand, we expanded our operations—building safe enclosures, partnering with veterinarians, and training volunteers to assist in rescue and rehabilitation efforts. Each year, we began treating hundreds of animals, from tiny songbirds to majestic hawks, from baby squirrels to injured deer.
We realized that saving wildlife wasn’t just about medical care—it was about education, prevention, and community involvement. Thus, we launched wildlife education programs, offering workshops, school visits, and public awareness campaigns to teach people about peaceful coexistence with wildlife.

???? Challenges & Triumphs
Rescuing wildlife is not without its challenges. We have faced:
- Severe weather events that left many animals displaced.
- Human-wildlife conflicts, where animals were unintentionally harmed by urban expansion.
- Resource limitations, making it difficult to meet the rising demand for care.
Yet, with every obstacle, our commitment has only strengthened. Each animal we save, each successful release, and each child we educate fuels our passion to continue this work.
One of our proudest moments was the successful rehabilitation and release of a red-tailed hawk that had suffered a severe wing injury. Against all odds, with months of medical treatment and therapy, it regained its ability to fly and was released back into the wild—a moment that symbolized hope and resilience.
???? A Future of Hope & Conservation
Today, Bayberry Wildlife Rescue stands as a beacon of hope for Connecticut’s wildlife, but our work is far from over. Every day, we strive to:
✔ Rescue and rehabilitate more animals in need.
✔ Expand our facilities to provide even better care.
✔ Educate the community about wildlife protection.
✔ Advocate for habitat conservation to ensure future generations of animals have a safe home.
We believe that every life—no matter how small—matters. Through compassion, education, and action, we are shaping a future where wildlife and humans can thrive together.
